2022 Taiwan Press Photo Contest Brochure

▇ Eligibility:

1. This competition is open to people from all walks of life to participate, regardless of the identity and nationality of the participants.

2. Entries are eligible for photojournalism, regardless of whether they have been published in the media or not.

3. The entrants must ensure the copyright of the entries, and the entrants are responsible for matters involving portrait rights.

4. A single photo must be a work taken between January 1, 2021 and December 31, 2021, a series of photos, and a video must be completed or published for the first time during the above period.

 

▇  Registration method:
This registration is divided into two stages, and the registration procedure can only be completed after receiving the "Participation Confirmation Letter". Pickup time is:2022/1/1 (Sat)～1/30 (Sun) 23:59.

3. Participants who are not members of the Association need to calculate the number of entries and groups. After completing the payment, indicate the amount and the last 5 codes of the remittance account on the online form, or inform the order number of the online payment using one code payment. 4. Participants must receive an official email reply before completing the registration. After registration, the entries and entry categories cannot be changed again. Participants are requested to upload their entries and entry forms carefully.

5. The image file itself, the name of the photo file and the description shall not be signed or have any text or mark unrelated to the content. If found, the General Assembly reserves the right to amend or cancel it.

1. Single photo: eight categories in total, NT$100 per category (no more than 10 photos per person per category)

2. Series photos: NT$200 (no more than 3 subjects per person, no more than 12 photos per subject)

3. The best photojournalism portfolio of the year: NT$300 (limited to one group per person, 15-30 photos must be submitted)

4. Online video news feature: NT$300 (up to three videos per person; available as a team)

▇ Project Category

 

A. Single photo (Singles)

1. Spot mews: Unpredictable news events or unpredictable situations in predictable events.

2. General news: predictable news events or conditions.

3. Sports News (Sport News): news events related to sports competition and dynamic leisure.

4. People in the news: The characterization and description of specific characters in news events.

5. Portraits: Portraits of people.

6. Nature and Technology: News events related to ecology, environmental protection, astronomy, and technology.

7. Feature: The point of view is not based on narrative, but focuses on the soft news angle or subject matter of human interest and picture beauty.

8. Art and Entertainment: News photos on issues related to art, entertainment, and fashion.Photo Essay:

B. Photo Essay:

A group of photos that report a single theme with multiple photos; a photo report or photo story of a thematic nature. ​

C. Annual Best Photojournalism Portfolio (BOP):

15~30 photos must be submitted. Participants are requested to select and edit from the perspective of the annual photo portfolio.

D. Net Video Report:

You must submit a single online video news topic within the time limit of 3 to 15 minutes. There are no restrictions on the theme and type. Individuals or teams can participate.

E. Press Photo of the Year (POY):

▇ Awards content:

1. Select the top three and the best three for each category of a single photo

2. The top three in the series of photos (the first prize in the series of photos is in memory of Ye Qingfang, and a prize of 10,000 yuan is provided by ViewFinder) and the three selected

3. The top three and the top three selected by the online video news topic

4. A "Special Award" for the best photojournalism portfolio of the year (a prize of NT$20,000)

5. One of the best news photos of the year (Bonus NT$10,000)

The above categories are recommended for selection by the jury, with the exception of the best photojournalism portfolio of the year and the best news photo of the year. Winners will be presented with a certificate of award by the Organizing Committee at the award ceremony.

 

▇ Specifications of works:

1. All documents will be sent as digital files, no paper photos will be accepted, color or black and white.

2. Contestants can crop their own photos, but the long side of the photo file must be at least 2000 pixels.

3. Each photo is saved separately in JPEG format, the image quality is set to high/8 or above, and the image dpi is set to 72dpi or above.

4. In addition to the general increase and decrease of light and contrast, the traditional darkroom can modify the photos, and the computer, the built-in program of the camera or the manual tampering, synthesis, fake, multiple exposure, HDR works will not be accepted. If the above situation is verified to be true, it will be disqualified from the evaluation or award.

5. Except for portraits and art and entertainment news, photographers who are involved in news events, arrangements and director's works will not be accepted, and will be disqualified from judging or winning if they are verified.

6. Contestants can choose their own categories, but the same photo is not allowed to participate in multiple categories, except for the series of photos and the best photojournalist of the year. If found, the photo will not be included in the judging.

7. The photos taken by the delegates are not included in the top three, and may be selected for selection after the judging decision.

8. The jury has the right to consult the original files of the contestants.

9. For future exhibition and publication needs, the organizer has the right to request large files of works from the winners.

 

▇ Receiving file format:

Regardless of leaflet, series or online video news feature, each entry photo and video must be marked withChineseorEnglishFill out a description of the work and embed a caption in the work file. Before uploading your work, please confirm theMetadata 'description' fieldCorresponding captions have been embedded for easy reference during the review process. There are three ways to embed captions as follows:

• Photoshop: Please click File->File Information->Description, and put the corresponding photo description in the field.

• Bridge: Click the "Description" of the photo file in the metadata column on the right to put the picture description text.

• Windows operating system: Click the photo file you want to upload -> Right click -> Details -> Click Description -> Insert image description text -> OK.

A. Single photo (Singles):

Please upload your works according to the category you want to participate in. One person can apply for up to eight categories, and each category should not exceed 10.

1. Each photo needs to be embedded with a caption.

2. Single photo file naming method: The single photo file name is named according to the "category" and "serial number", and the serial number should be arranged with two digits in Arabic numerals. Such as: breaking news-01, breaking news-02, breaking news-03...general news-01, general news-02, general news-03...etc, and so on.
    

B. Photo Essay:

Each person shall not exceed 3 groups of themes, and each group shall not exceed 12 pieces.

1. Each photo needs to be embedded with a caption.

2. The naming method of series photos: series a-01, series a-02, series a-03... series b-01, series b-02... and so on.

3. Please write the series "topic name" and "topic description" in word file.

4. When uploading a series of photos, please make a compressed file (Zip or RAR) with photos of the same theme and a word file of the theme description, and name them as series a, series b, and series c.

 

C. Annual Best Photojournalism Portfolio (BOP):

Each person is limited to one group, and 15-30 photos must be submitted.

1. Each photo needs to be embedded with a caption.

2. Photo naming method: BOP-01, BOP-02, BOP-03... and so on.

3. If there is a theme description, please attach a word file (not necessary).

4. When uploading an archive, please make a compressed archive (Zip or RAR) and name it BOP.

 

D. Net Video Report:

Each group should not have more than 3 entries, and must submit a single online video news topic within the time limit of 3 to 15 minutes, regardless of the theme and type, and individuals or teams can participate.

1. Please embed the video description in the file metadata or provide a word file.

2. File naming method: Video-01, Video-02, Video-03.

3. Please convert the video format to MP4 or MOV.

▇ Review results:

1. The competition will be judged on a selected date in 2022, and the judging date and judging results will be announced on the official website.

2. The time and place of the awards will be announced later. Please pay close attention to the latest news on the official website.

 

▇ Other notes:

1. Participants who complete the entry procedures agree that the organizer may use the entries, and may reproduce, publish, exhibit, post on the Internet, or use for seminars and publicity. During the use process, the organizer will respect the rights of the participants to sign.

2. If a third party makes a claim or dissatisfaction with respect to the rights of the people, things or buildings in the photos, the entrant shall be fully responsible for the relevant legal affairs.

3. Entrants who do not follow the entry rules or do not meet the conditions in the entry form will be disqualified.

4. Contestants can participate in all project categories at the same time, but the same photo cannot participate in multiple categories, except for the series of photos and the best photojournalism portfolio of the year. If found, the photo will not be included in the judging. For entries that do not win the prize, the competition will strictly abide by the Copyright Law of the Republic of China and related laws and regulations.
